Job brief
We are seeking a professional and knowledgeable Occupational Therapist to join our team. The ideal fit for this position will have a strong background in occupational therapy and a genuine passion for helping people to get back into working in their careers, or to stay at work when they face disability, illness, or injury. The focus of the role is to work with patients who have experienced or are experiencing illness, disease, injury, or disability, which affects their daily and work lives.
Responsibilities
- Consult with patients to ascertain the issues they are facing from their disability, injury, or illness, both in their day-to-day lives and work lives.
- Complete assessments, monitoring, and diagnosis of conditions.
- Develop a treatment plan using therapeutic methods to help ease or treat the patient’s condition.
- Set achievable goals for patients and ensure their milestones are recorded and amended as required whilst keeping their patient files up to date.
- Treat patients with special equipment and the therapeutic use of daily activities.
- Provide long-term or short-term care to patients as needed.
- Assist patients with improving, regaining, or relearning the everyday skills they need for their daily activities or work activities, or both.
- Make referrals to other healthcare service providers when needed.
- Work in line with patient confidentiality and safeguarding guidelines at all times.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or above in occupational therapy or relevant vocational qualification or certification
- Licensed with the issuing certification board applicable in your region
- Complaint with healthcare provider requirements in your region
- Demonstrated knowledge of classical and new treatment processes
- Excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills
- Adaptable to changing people and personalities
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- Strong administrative skills
- Physically able to help patients move into certain positions or use special equipment
- Empathetic and compassionate in nature
