Job brief

We are seeking a kind, creative and passionate Recreation Therapist to join our team! The ideal candidate will have extensive of experience in providing therapeutic recreation to patients from all walks of life. The role's main focus is to provide therapy in a recreational setting through assessment, planning, and execution of therapy, ranging from arts and crafts to assisted physical rehabilitation.

Responsibilities

  • Assess patients’ status, needs, and suitable therapy to move forward.
  • Create a care/therapy plan for each patient.
  • Conduct therapy sessions with various types of clients.
  • Ensure that the therapy given meets the needs and abilities of the patient.
  • Provide regular reports on the patient’s improvement or decline as required.
  • Arrange various activities such as arts and crafts, walks, gentle exercise, dance, or other recreational activities suitable for the patient.
  • Help with the reduction of; depression, anxiety, and other mental health issues.
  • Aid in the recovery of physical and mental abilities.
  • Help patients to build confidence, and improve their outlook on social settings and other life activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or above in behavioral therapy, therapeutic recreation, psychology, or related field
  • Master's degree or doctorate would be an advantage
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in a Therapist role
  • Demonstrated ability to identify patient needs and develop effective care plans
  • Patient, kind, caring, and creative in nature
  • Demonstrated understanding of industry guidelines and best practices
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Adept with using computer programs such as Microsoft Office and EMR systems
  • Highly-organized and able to prioritize work effectively
  • Good problem-solving skills
  • Great attention to detail
  • Good customer service skills
  • Knowledge of data protection and patient confidentiality guidelines
