Job brief

We are seeking a creative, passionate, and dynamic Floral Designer to join our team, the ideal candidate will have previous experience as a florist or floral designer within the catering and hospitality industry, be naturally creative and up to date on current trends, the floral designer will work directly with clients and events staff to understand the needs and requirements for flowers and specific designs for events such as weddings, engagements, and conferences.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with hotel management, events teams, and any other required department to ascertain, note, and understand the requirements for flowers and designs for relevant events.
  • Liaise with clients directly to understand their ideas, designs, and visions of their special event.
  • Source flowers from external vendors as required for each event.
  • Ensure that flowers and greenery are stored properly to ensure the best level of freshness and bloom possible.
  • Create and develop designs and placement of flowers in line with the requirements set out by the client or the relevant department.
  • Understand and put together complimenting floral designs, both by scent and by color.
  • Use artificial flowers where required to substitute out-of-season flower requests.
  • Understand and know the floral seasons and the availability of specific flowers.
  • Provide excellent customer service to all clients at all times during all stages of the event from consultation to execution.
  • Create and develop innovative designs and a portfolio to showcase to potential clients.
  • Assist with the setup and placement of floral displays in the venue.
  • Ensure that used flowers are properly donated or disposed of.

Requirements

  • Associates degree or above in Art, Design, or other related field, or 2 years experience within the florist industry with a focus on hospitality and events
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  • Demonstrated customer service skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Good listening skills
  • Solid interpersonal skills with the ability to converse with people from all backgrounds
  • Sound knowledge of flowers, foliage, and greenery
  • Excellent consulting abilities
  • Proficient with the use of Microsoft programs including Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Confident with capturing images on cameras
  • Able to put together aesthetically pleasing displays and portfolios
