Laundry Worker job description

Job brief

We are seeking a personable, helpful, and customer-focused Laundry Worker to join our team! The ideal fit for the role will have previous experience in a customer-focused position and be adept with assisting customers and providing high service levels to them. The key focus of the position is to ensure customers can complete their laundry tasks with ease, along with ensuring items are correctly labeled for special services such as dry cleaning.

Responsibilities

• Attend to customers' needs as they enter the premises, including assisting with the use of washing machines and dryers, handing out tokens, and taking payments.
• Assist customers with obtaining laundry carts or baskets and instructions on where to return them once finished.
• Demonstrate the features of washing machines and dryers to the customers and explain all of the settings as needed.
• Man the front desk, taking special requests for dry cleaning and ironing.
• Ensure items that come in for special requests are properly tagged and labeled with the instructions and customer information.
• Place items in a queue and ensure that they are completed in order of priority or first-come-first-serve.
• Call customers to notify them their laundry is ready to collect.
• Assist with ironing, folding, and bagging of laundered items for customer collection.
• Take point-of-sale payments, including credit/debit card payments and cash.
• Use the till and card machine to process payments and provide customers with receipts.
• Answer all questions, queries, and concerns that customers may have and provide overall quality service to customers.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or above
• 2-years' previous experience in a customer-focused role
• Highly organized and able to multi-task
• Strong customer service and interpersonal skills
• Strong math skills, able to subtract, add, and multiply
• Proficient with the use of point-of-sale equipment such as card machines and cash registers
• A keen eye for details
• Able to work in a fast-paced environment and within service-level agreements
• Good knowledge of machinery used on site and their features
