Job brief
Ensuring staff compliance with the facility's established policies, procedures, and systems, the Medical Director is a trained physician responsible for coordinating medical teams to accomplish set daily goals and meet the overall vision, mission, and KPI (key performance indicators) of the long-term care facility. This role requires a dynamic, knowledgeable medical professional with excellent communication, business, analytical and medical skills.
Responsibilities
- Recruit, hire, and manage physicians, nurses, paramedics, and other medical and administrative staff.
- Review, evaluate and improve medical activities to ensure the highest quality standards.
- Engage and assist with staff training, continuing education, and promotions.
- Manage the facility's budget.
- Liaise with medical and operational departments as well as enhance relationships with vendors.
- Under the guidance of the medical board, update, amend, and replace medical policies.
- Cultivate and support cohesive collaboration between paramedics, nurses, and medical departments.
- Assess, identify and address any dysfunction in the medical units.
- Safeguard and ensure federal and state regulations and codes compliance with all respective staff.
- Participate and engage in continuous education and keep licenses up to date.
Requirements
- Medical degree and board certification in emergency care, occupational health, or family medicine
- License and certification to practice medicine
- 10+ yrs. experience in clinical medicine
- 5+ yrs. Experience in hospital administration
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills
- Computer and electronic record keeping fluency
- Superior managerial and organizational skills
