Job brief
We are seeking a Trust Manager who will be in charge of assuring compliance with relevant Company policies and external legislation. You will support the trust officers in the servicing and operational management of more complicated trust and estate accounts or portfolios.
By reading any correspondence you receive from the legal department and going to all educational programs, you can stay up to speed on knowledge and abilities pertinent to the fiduciary industry (updates received from the legal department, broadcasts, economics, cost to company).
Responsibilities
- Create trust accountings, trust returns, and estate tax returns.
- Creating an estate and trust plan.
- Participate in and contribute to the continual development of the structures, procedures, and controls of the Investment Trust department.
- Own and approve corrective action items for matters pertaining to the Trust Office with Internal Audit and Management Assurance.
- Obtain the monthly report of all trusts with investments to manage the liquidity of funds and ensure the timely investment of surplus money on a daily basis.
- Check reports for discrepancies on a monthly basis, reconcile trust systems and bank accounts, and review all trusts.
- Create reports on SARS E-filing for any unresolved cases, and make sure the Trust Officer and tax returns are finished, submitted, and paid on schedule.
- Examine files that won't make money and get rid of them by considering alternative possibilities, raising the fees, and obtaining other Trusteeships.
- Verify that rent for monthly or recurring rentals is paid on time.
- Control a variety of daily, monthly, and annual reports Trusts for investments, new trusts, trusts established, maintaining trusts, and outstanding insurance.
- In more complex matters, regularly communicate with walk-in and phone clients about grievances, questions, and legal assistance.
- Keep up with the most recent investing options by understanding the various interest rates, prospective capital growth, and potential risk.
Requirements
- Prior experience handling trust and estate accounting with estate and trust taxes
- Analytic, organizational, problem-solving, and project management skills that are well-developed
- Relevant training, experience, or understanding in finance, brokerage, or similar
- Willingness to finish professional certifications like those offered by the Member Trust Institute (MTI)
- Ability to develop strong partnerships to sustain constructive working relationships with coworkers, management, and clients
- Commitment to ethical and professional behavior
- Excellent organizational skills
- Significant experience working with their different professional advisers and serving Fiduciary and High Net Worth individual customers as well as their linked corporations, enterprises, and families (attorneys, estate planners, investment advisors, insurance advisors)
