IT Managers oversee and manage the IT department and its employees. They are responsible for ensuring correct and proper execution of network, security, and upgrade implementations and ensuring team members stay up to date with training and development.
When interviewing an IT Manager, you should be looking for an educational background in IT, or computer science and a proven track record of hands-on IT experience, with a focus on supervision and leadership in a more senior role. People management, implementing change, and ensuring security should be high on your priority list when selecting a candidate.
Most IT Managers will be able to provide comprehensive answers and demonstrate in-depth knowledge of these subject matter questions. Look for answers using the star method, and identify where persons are using specific examples from their previous roles/experience to demonstrate their working knowledge.
