Job Brief
Our organization is looking for an experienced Bursar to oversee the financial operations, including student tuition and fees, financial aid, and other revenues.
Your role will encompass guaranteeing the accuracy and promptness of financial transactions, maintaining financial records, and furnishing financial analyses and reports.
The perfect candidate should have outstanding accounting and financial management abilities, in-depth knowledge of financial aid regulations and compliance, and be capable of working efficiently in a fast-paced atmosphere.
Responsibilities:
- Manage student tuition and fee billing, collections, and refunds.
- Oversee the distribution of financial aid and scholarships.
- Ensure the accuracy and timeliness of financial transactions and records.
- Develop and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including students, parents, and financial aid agencies.
- Provide financial analysis and reporting to senior management.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure accurate and timely reporting and analysis.
- Maintain compliance with financial aid regulations and policies.
- Provide excellent customer service to students and other stakeholders.
- Assist with other accounting and finance functions as needed.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in bursar or financial management roles in higher education
- Strong understanding of accounting and financial management principles and practices
- Excellent analytical skills, including the ability to analyze financial data and identify trends and issues
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work accurately in a fast-paced environment
- Knowledge of financial aid regulations and compliance
- Proficiency in financial management software and systems, such as Banner or PeopleSoft
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Experience in a bursar or financial management role in higher education is a plus
