Computer and Information Research Scientist job description

Job Brief

We are seeking a detail orientated, highly articulate, and dynamic Computer and Information Research Scientist to join our expanding team. As an integral part of the team, you will be responsible for researching new and existing technologies along with studying and analyzing complex problems within the information technology sector.

Responsibilities

• Investigate and explore problems in the computing realm and develop interesting and reliable theories to solve and address these issues.
• Work alongside computer technicians, developers, engineers, and other scientists to solve problems.
• Analyze and determine computing needs and requirements, along with system and database requirements.
• Develop and implement new computing and programming languages, systems, and any other applicable tools to best improve how developers and other IT personnel work with computers.
• Develop, design, and conduct experiments to effectively conduct tests on the effectiveness and efficiency of software systems, whilst researching and analyzing data and techniques from data science and machine learning functionalities.
• Analyze and report on the results of experiments and research.
• Write articles and papers about findings from research and experiments, and effectively communicate and present these at various events and conferences.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science
• 2 years experience as an intern or other related work experience
• Other degrees may be required depending on the field of computer information research science you wish to enter, and a Ph.D. may also be required for roles within the federal government
• Excellent analytical skills are required to ensure data can be effectively extracted, analyzed, and broken down into manageable and understandable reports
• Good communication skills are required in order to effectively communicate with other team members, researchers and scientists alike
• Great interpersonal skills are required for working with managers, programmers, and developers, all of who may come from different backgrounds, you should be adept at working with others either in person or remotely
• Logical thinking is required for making decisions and dealing with different algorithms
• Excellent math skills, you must have good math skills and the ability to solve complex math problems in this field of work
• Great problem-solving skills are required in order to break down problems, find the cause, and eliminate the cause, to then test and rebuild the fix without the problem being present
