Estimator job description

Job brief

We are seeking to hire a full-time Estimator who will be reporting to the Operation Manager and will be responsible for reviewing project requirements and preparing quotations for customers.

Responsibilities

• Analyze the scope of work, labor, material, and time requirements for a project.
• Generate quotations by gathering proposals, blueprints, specifications, and related documents for various project types.
• Providing alternate and optional estimates for cost comparison and cost control and ensuring that the building code and structural requirements are fulfilled.
• Ensure estimating all materials included in estimates satisfy the latest Building Code requirements.
• Prepare budget reports.
• Prepare and submit bid proposals and tender documents.
• Respond to inquiries related to quotes and pricing.
• Formulate pricing adjustments resulting from project revisions or add-ons.
• Contact suppliers for non-standard pricing and inventory inquiries.
• Advise customers on potential issues with project design.
• Maintain contact and relationship with internal team members, suppliers, and builders.
• Investigate project errors and identify solutions upon request by the manager.

Requirements

• Five years of experience working as an estimator in the construction industry
• Ability to work independently and in a team setting
• Conduct engaging presentations
• Ability to create reports on costing data
• Efficient analytical and math skills
• Ability to understand technical drawings and requirements
• Must be comfortable with the use of Personal Protection Equipment when visiting job sites, exposure to loud noises, and hazards associated with the construction industry
