Groundskeeper job description

Job brief

We are looking for a skilled Groundskeeper to join our dynamic team. As a Groundskeeper, you will be responsible for ensuring that our outdoor areas are well-maintained and visually appealing. You will be expected to work independently and collaboratively with other team members to carry out all necessary landscaping and gardening tasks.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and care for outdoor areas such as parks, gardens, lawns, and athletic fields by mowing, watering, planting, pruning, and weeding.
• Operate and care for groundskeeping tools and equipment, such as mowers, trimmers, blowers, and hedge cutters.
• Keep outdoor areas clean by removing litter, debris, and fallen branches.
• Assemble and dismantle structures such as tents and stages for outdoor events.
• Collaborate with contractors and other maintenance personnel to ensure all maintenance is carried out effectively.
• Maintain all garden equipment and tools by cleaning, sharpening, and oiling them on a regular basis.
• Ensure that all safety protocols and regulations are followed in outdoor areas.
• Prepare soil for planting and maintain an inventory of plants, trees, and shrubs.
• Report any issues or concerns to the supervisor in charge and ensure they are resolved promptly.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Groundskeeper or similar role
• Ability to operate and maintain all groundskeeping tools and equipment
• Strong knowledge of plants and landscaping techniques
• Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions
• Excellent communication skills to communicate effectively with team members and supervisors
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Physically fit to carry out the demands of the job
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Certification in landscaping or gardening is advantageous
