Job Brief

We are looking for a service-focused and knowledgeable Head Chef to join our team! Our ideal candidate will have a long career in food and cooking and be experienced in not only running a kitchen and cooking delicious meals but managing a team in a fast-paced environment! The focus of the role is to develop and implement new menus and food to be served, along with experimenting with new ingredients to make mouth-watering delicacies for our customers and assisting with the cooking of food and monitoring of the kitchen staff.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with management and executives to research and experiment with new menu options.
  • Create new dishes for trial in the restaurant.
  • Teach and train other chefs and kitchen staff on how to properly prepare and cook the menu dishes.
  • Ensure the kitchen is clean and following food hygiene regulations.
  • Manage the rota of kitchen staff, ensuring proper coverage.
  • Order and take inventory of stock and ingredients as required.
  • Ensure a smooth and successful restaurant experience for customers.
  • Deliver and update staff training on a regular basis.
  • Liaise with customers and gain feedback on the food quality.
  • Update and change menus when needed.
  • Make decisions on menu options, changes, and service delivery.
  • Coordinate with suppliers to negotiate high-quality food at reasonable prices.
  • Manage the budget of the kitchen and provide financial reports.

Requirements

  • High school Diploma or above
  • Minimum of 2 years previous experience in a similar role
  • Food badge/certification for your district
  • Strong knowledge of Food hygiene and safety regulations
  • Ability to communicate with customers and other staff members
  • Ability to use kitchen equipment such as dishwashers, hotplates, cookers, etc
  • Physically able to be on your feet for long periods of time
  • Willing to work late or unsociable hours
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Good interpersonal skills with the ability to build strong relationships
  • Good listening skills, with high levels of attention to detail
  • Ability to multitask
