We are seeking a Kitchen Porter to assist our kitchen staff in maintaining a clean and orderly kitchen environment. The Kitchen Porter will be responsible for maintaining kitchen supplies, equipment, and surfaces as well as ensuring trash and waste are disposed of in a safe and hygienic manner. A successful candidate will be capable of working efficiently in a team, have a keen eye for detail, and be committed to maintaining a clean and organized kitchen.

Kitchen Porter responsibilities

• Clean and maintain the kitchen and all equipment to the highest standards of hygiene.
• Collect and remove all trash and waste products, ensuring these are disposed of safely and in accordance with health and safety guidelines.
• Unload deliveries and correctly store items in the designated areas.
• Organize and maintain food storage areas, including fridges, freezers, and dry storage spaces.
• Assist the kitchen staff in preparing basic food items such as vegetables and meats.
• Clean and maintain kitchen utensils, dishes, glasses, and silverware, ensuring that these are clean and ready to use in a timely manner.
• Operate cleaning equipment and chemicals safely and effectively.
• Comply with health and safety regulations in relation to food handling, storage, and sanitation.

Requirements

• Prior experience working in a busy kitchen as a Kitchen Porter is preferred but not required
• Familiarity with maintaining kitchen hygiene and cleanliness standards
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
• Good organizational skills and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Attention to detail and the ability to follow instructions accurately
• Physically capable of heavy lifting and the ability to stand for extended periods of time
• Knowledge of food safety and hygiene regulations
