Job brief

We are seeking a technically minded, dynamic, and detail orientated Network Technician to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will be adept in providing support to the company’s operational demands by providing support and technical assistance to the networks including troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair. The focus of the role is to keep the company’s network in good working order, ensuring it can sustain the demands of the company’s operations.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze, test, and evaluate existing network systems to check their performance and suitability for the company’s needs.
  • Carry out regular maintenance, updates, and upgrades to ensure that the networks operate correctly and efficiently.
  • Identify problems and troubleshoot local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), and other Internet systems as required to ensure the proper functions.
  • Provide technical support to other team members within other departments when issues are faced and resolve issues in a timely manner.
  • Work as part of a team to analyze and investigate data to identify trends and patterns.
  • Keep the company’s antivirus up to date to protect the network from potential threats.
  • Use network switches where needed and change switches as required if they are not working effectively.
  • Ensure file and data backups are regularly completed and kept in good order.
  • Document any network breaches and problems for future reference.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or above in Information Technology or Computer Engineering, or equivalent work experience and education
    Network+ certification would be an advantage
  • 2 years experience in a similar role, apprenticeship, or internship
  • Good team working skills
  • Excellent communication skills and interpersonal abilities to collaborate with other users and departments as required
  • Adept with troubleshooting to identify and fix problems
  • Experienced with providing help desk support to other users
  • Good analytical skills, with the ability to analyze big amounts of data and identify patterns and trends
  • Good hands-on knowledge of network switches
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities
