Staff Accountant Job Description

Job Brief 

We are seeking a Staff Accountant who is meticulous and attentive to details to become a part of our finance team. 

The duties of this role involve executing various accounting tasks such as keeping financial records, creating financial reports, and aiding in budgeting and forecasting. 

The preferred candidate should have a comprehensive knowledge of accounting principles and practices, exceptional analytical abilities, and be capable of working efficiently in a fast-paced setting.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare and analyze financial statements and reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
• Assist with month-end and year-end closing procedures, including reconciling accounts and preparing journal entries.
• Maintain accurate and complete financial records, including supporting documentation for transactions and account balances.
• Assist with budgeting and forecasting processes, including preparing budgets and forecasts and analyzing actual results against budgets.
• Review and analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and other issues that require attention.
• Collaborate with other departments to ensure accurate and timely reporting and analysis.
• Provide support for audits and tax filings.
• Ensure compliance with accounting principles, standards, and regulations.
• Continuously identify and recommend process improvements and best practices.
• Assist with other accounting and finance functions as needed.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
• Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in accounting or finance
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices
• Familiarity with accounting software and systems, such as QuickBooks and NetSuite
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work accurately in a fast-paced environment
• Knowledge of GAAP and other accounting standards and regulations
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
• CPA or CMA certification is a plus
