Job brief
We are seeking a TSA Transportation Security Officer who will specialize in providing security and protection for travelers across all transportation sectors, as well as the environment and industry, by preventing narcotics, weapons and firearms, obscene materials, and other prohibited goods from entering the United States of America.
Responsibilities
- Conduct regular screening of travelers to ensure no prohibited materials enter American jurisdiction.
- Operate various equipment and technology to identify dangerous objects in baggage, cargo, and/or on passengers.
- Take appropriate action against travelers who should not be admitted into the country (could include those involved in terrorism, war crimes, organized crime, or crimes against humanity).
- Monitor and detain inadmissible travelers where necessary.
- Perform searches and screening, which may include physical interaction with passengers.
- Conduct vehicle and parcel inspections with the likelihood of lifting and handling items.
- Supervise and control entry and exit points.
- Retain knowledge of all applicable Standard Operating Procedures and Federal and local laws and regulations.
Requirements
- U.S. citizen or national
- 18 years of age or older
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent certificate
- Demonstrates analytical thinking, sound judgment and decisiveness
- Comfortable being in moderate to high-risk situations
- If called for, must demonstrate the ability to pass a federal drug screening, background investigation, and medical evaluation
